When I did my reserve infantry QL3, the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel was that I would receive my cap badge from the Honouray Colonel on the day I graduated. I'm now reg force sigs in Kingston, and they happen to be running reserve infantry QL3 courses here. I noticed that all the recruits I see are wearing regimental cap badges and epaulettes. Was there a change in CF policy regarding this? or has it just been a tradition that new infanteers get badged at the end of the course? Personally it's a tradition I would like to see the infantry keep, it's a good sort of motivation for completing the course. The day I got badged was one of the happiest days of my life, and it meant alot to me, I think other recruits should have to go through the same thing myself, but that's just my humble opinion.

you still don't get your reg. cap badge till you compleat ql3 [Canadian]

All i can do is speculate, because I don't really know the situation, however they may have completed their QL2 and have been with their regiment for some time and were just accepted for QL3 maybe thats why?

Last time I checked, one only received their regimental cap brass upon completion of their QL3 trade course. Things have not changed. Not unless something fishy is going on...... Hmmm

To keep the record straight, in the artillery you do not receive your hat badge until you have fired your first round.

I know some reserve units give the troops their hat badge upon completion of QL2 to welcome to the Regiment.

i have to agree with the patriot,infantry lose the cookie cutter and get there real cap badge after ql3.......i smell tuna in the air [Canadian]

Something seemed fishy to me too. Then again Kingston is completely different from the rest of the CF.

just trust me, it is. The sigs world is completely different than that I'm accustomed to.

No real stories, I've only been here a few weeks. It's just alot more different than the infantry and the combat arms for that matter. The drill is different, deportment is lax, and the dress leaves something to be desired. There are some good aspects of it, but a bit of advice for those of you planning to take a compontent transfer from the Reserves to reg force sigs, hurry up and wait. It took me eight months to get in. My QL3 is supposed to be 10 months, but now it's turning out to be like 16 months because security clearances are backed up. Oh well I'm still getting paid.

Yup....I third what you guys said. QL 2 -triforce cornflake. start of QL 3 -DUCIMUS infantry cap bag. graduation pde from battleschool, in my case the eight-pointed VRI star. unless things have changed....and that star was shinier than a mint dime in an egles *** in a power dive...one liners from CSM's...funny lines they know

Yup...that's what we called it. We were more than happy to toss it in our barrack box when we were granted the Ducimus Infantry Cap Badge...a little more colour on those bad boys. Even happier when we got our Regimental Cap Badge. Happy, very happy day on pde...funny the PL WO was still whispering in our ears as we marched into the drill hall "I still got you turds, your still mine! You screw up the drill and your outta' here"! Were thinking "yeah right...dream on there Warrant...get a grip" Went well although buddy behind me didn't fix his bayonet properly and when we presented arms...it was rattling around like underwear on a flag pole. You could hear the PL WO right behind him "Oh, you are so dead" Nothing happened..later on that night while celebrating...we were all laughing and walk by out buddy and simulate a present arms...then of course buy the lad a beer over a good laugh. Yes sir, fond memories of completing that portion of life. I still don't know to this day how we all made it on the bus to go to Petawawa. Pretty damm hurting...some of us didn't sleep, we painted the town red as they say. Ahhhh I miss that stuff!
