Gentlemen,
Whilst doing some on the web research , I came across a reference in the official Luxembourg site on the National War Museum of Luxembourg. This showing a photograph of a Artillery Battalion gun team , representing the Luxembourg committment to NATO in the 1950's.

The photograph shows a 25 pounder gun/howitzer. it's caption however say's it is a 25 pdr gun converted in Canada to fire 105mm shells.

Would anyone have any knowledge?

Yours,

Gentlemen,

In regard to this query on 25pdr gun carriages fitted with 105mm barrels for the Lux Army, I have had a response from a mate in Sweden. He looked at the gun on display in the museum in Luxembourg, and states that:
1. The gun barrel would appear to be of a US M2 105mm howitzer.
2. The gun and mount had markings on stating manufactured by Inglis (I always thought that Inglis only dealt with small arms).
3. Further marking stated proofed by Canadian Ordnance 1951.
To the best of my knowledge the US M2 105mm howitzer was a infantry support weapon, used in their regimental cannon companies, and the glider artillery bns of airborne divisions!

ANY IDEAS at all anyone??

Yours,
Jock in Sydney
