I checked out the website and it's very interesting to say the least. My great uncle was killed in the battle of Hooge in Belgium and his is one of the many thousands listed on the panels of the Menin Gate. I would love to be able to go over sometime and be able to see it for myself. In the meantime, how do people go about requesting copies of the photos of the inscriptions?

There is a book called SILENT WITNESSES by Herbert Fairlie Wood and John Swettenham. On the inside cover it states that the book "tells of battles, explains the casualties they brought, and provides a complete guide to the memorials to Canada's war dead. With maps, guides to the locations of the cemetaries and a wealth of photgraphs, the book is the only full account of this country's commemoration of its fallen servicemen and servicewomen."

This is a phenomenal book! It has provided me with fabulous information and photos of a number of locations of deceased family members from both wars as well as a brief outline that has made it possible to trace part of my father's footsteps through Italy even though he chooses not to talk about his experiences very much!
