I notice that you are posting from NB. Was your uncle also Canadian and buried in a cemetary for Canadian war dead? There is a book called SILENT WITNESSES by Herbert Fairlie Wood and John Swettenham. On the inside cover it states that the book "tells of battles, explains the casualties they brought, and provides a complete guide to the memorials to Canada's war dead. With maps, guides to the locations of the cemetaries and a wealth of photgraphs, the book is the only full account of this country's commemoration of its fallen servicemen and servicewomen." This is a phenomenal book! It has provided me with fabulous information and photos of a number of locations of deceased family members from both wars as well as a brief outline that has made it possible to trace part of my father's footsteps through Italy even though he chooses not to talk about his experiences very much! You may find this book to be of interest and/or help for you. |
