I intend to become an Officer in one of the Jump Coy's. I am in university now and serving in the reserves in the ranks. I am familiar with the phase trg for reg force inf ocdt's but would like to know how I could get posted to a Jump Coy either upon commission or soon thereafter.

First of all, you have to get in the Regular force as an infantry officer. Then you would have to get posted to a battalion whish has a Parachute Company, 3 RCR, 3 PPCLI, or 3 R22R Then you obviously would need to go on your basic para course and hope that you eventually get posted to the company.

A few months ago I heard some talk about cutting reg inf regiments down to two bn each but whenever I repeated the rumor nobody else had heard anything, it seems. Does anyone know this rumor's source?

This rumor comes from the same concept paper which discusses eliminating a Bde entirely. I have yet to read it myself, but have talked with a few peopl who have. Right now it is just one of many options the army may have to take to fit its budget. None of the options are currently in stone. I would hope that if the cut the light Bn, they would reform an airmobile Battle Group.

Maybe they should take the billion dollars from the HRDC fiasco and pump it back into National Defence. The Air Force is mothballing 40 CF-18's. This is rediculous!!!! The second largest landmass on earth, will not be able to defend itself at a Brigade level even if it attempts to.
