Yesterday I spent $25 on the white pants and jacket. I know that a parka goes under the jacket but what goes under the pants? I read the label but I have no idea what Arctic Trousers look like.

Would I really need the trousers for being with cadets in Ontario? We are going on two exercises at the end of January and in February.

I am also asking for the boots for my birthday so I will probably get them.

thanks

What you probably want are the pants I know as "wind pants" They are essentially a heavy-duty version of combat trousers with reinforced butt and knee patches.

I have no experience with cadets, but I'm surprised that your CIC guys aren't telling you all this in advance...

I can only speak from experience about Meaford and Borden. Are you going to one of those two? The coldest I've ever seen in those places was -30c at night in Meaford. (No laughter from those of you on the prairies, please). On the other hand, I've seen guys quite comfortable in nothing more than a thick flannel shirt, wind pants and mukluks. My advice is to get the wind pants if you can find them (as much because they're water-resistant as anything else), but be ready to lose layers quickly if you get too warm.

Search the past posts for the advice RMeades gave about keeping your feet warm, and what kind of socks to wear. If your feet are cold, your legs will be even more miserable.
