Thought I'd carry on with the discussion on courses and there diffs. Did my JLC/JNCO Crse late last year in sunny Wainwright. There was another crse running at the same time that was treared quite a bit diff than we were, not just sour grapes but agreed upon by troops on the other crse. Example being while we trained in obstacle crossing, the other platoons same training consisted of watching us bust ass. We lost 18, they lost 2. Oh well, it was absolute hell while I was there and now I think it was easy(of course).
Further on the JLC/JNCO, can anyone explain the differences in training standards between Commands(other than 'just cause') In LFWA, the JLC is 5 weeks. This is all that is needed for your leaf(although I have heard a persistant rumour that things are diff for 400 trades-diff thread) This 5 weeks is followed by 5 weeks of a JNCO crse. This is based on field craft- occupation of defense, defensive occupation, patrolling and advance to contact. All taught by way of dismounted infantry drills. This crse, while helpful in a broad sort of way-the training is far diff than anything a support trade would ever do- the crse is a pass fail with no career implications. How diff is this from the JLC in LFCA or MarCom? Anyone? and
