A good friend of mine recently passed away (ate his gun) and my S.O. has recently completed a suicide prevention program in Borden. I was quite suprised that a suicide prevention course was being run as it is usually run as a result of suicides or attempted suicides in the recent past. Is the incidence of suicide becoming common in the CF? Is it more or less likely to occur today as opposed to the last ten years? What are your opinions as to why this is happening? I've not been privy to the knowledge of suicide in the ranks for at least fifteen years and that was a result of stress self - induced by pressure on course. I don't think that I have 'selective memory' or are things just passing me by in my old, doddering ways?
I realize that this maybe an uncomfortable subject for some and I am not trying to shit disturb but I am trying to provoke you into a response that you may not have thought of before now.
