Well, one thing that could possibly happen to you is that you join the Legion and go to Africa where you spend your time doing nothing.

Fact of the matter is that life with the Legion doesn't always live up to the promise of adventure and daring deeds.

Something else to consider, as has been mentioned previously. The French use the Legion to do that which it will not send it's citizens to do as they are *expendable*. Why on earth would you want to volunteer for that?
