So he DID get the CVSM, right?

Not sure why you mention his service number - the letters went according to Military District, not time in. M was MD13, for example (Alberta), L was Saskatachewan (MD 12), etc. Unless you know something I don't?

One of our vets in the Calgary Highlanders joined up with another unit in 1939 and got the lowest number in Alberta - his service number was M9. I kid you not. Each unit was also allocated a block of numbers to issue from.
