I certainly can see the debate between "nice" and polite as reasonable, I might advance the idea that the key factor isn't either of these. It's clarity of intention. Canada has never made the habit of sending "advisors" or "consultants" to wage quiet wars. As Canadians, we've always made our intentions very clear. If we are coming to try and stop a war, we do it with excellence and within our mandate. On the other hand however, when Canada makes war, we don't call it anything but(At least in a historical sense. Canada no longer has the ability to independently wage war on another nation.)a war. I think that maintaining this clarity of action is vitally important to maintaining the international Canadian image of honesty and integrity.
