There is a standard which, although pretty low, is enforced...at least in any unit I've been to. If your former unit was lax that was a failing in leadership. You fail, you get remedial, fail again, you get a Recorded Warning, fail the next time and you're on C&P...next; fail you're out of the Forces. Additionally on the PER there is a little box on there where the supervisor is required to check off if the person has passed the test, is exempt the test, is medically unable to take the test or they failed it. Lastly, you don't pass a PT test you don't go on a deployment, period.

I know this seems like a long drawn out process but welcome to the new world of human rights.

I suppose that the Militia/Reserves might take a bit of a different attitude on things due to the desire to retain otherwise qualified personnel but that's a totally different problem I suppose.
