Personally, I'm afraid the time for prosecuting war criminals from the Second World War may have eluded us - most war criminals are probably already dead, or near death from old age. In the interim, those with any conscience (I know, that's debatable in itself) will have lived since the war in constant fear of discovery - perhaps not perfectly fitting justice, but at this late date the prospect of trying eighty-year-olds (or older) seems dubious. And, if found guilty, what would be their sentence? Life in prison (which might only amount to a couple of months or years).
I'm not suggesting we ignore history, or pardon anything. However, we have more pressing issues at hand.
Lest we forget.
Dileas!
