The Commonwealth War Graves Commission URL was recently posted to the Personnel Locator section of this site in response to enquiries about missing persons. A visit to the URL brought back vivid images regarding one of their cemetary sites located in Damascus Syria. While stationed there in 1983, I encountered the site while exploring the city. The grounds and area were extremely well maintained. The two or three hours spent roaming the cemetery certainly caused one to pause and reflect on past events. The average age listed on the tombstones was in the 18-19 range. All in all, a very sombre moment.
