I don't know that many of the 500 or so recruits
that I trained gained perspective as much as they
did appreciation and awareness of what kind of
a commitment and dedication it takes to serve.
"Learn to serve", I remember seeing that on the wall of the drillhall
in Cornwallis every day and night until I marched my company off
that parade square for the last time.
