I believe that the image is from the famous World War II cartoons featuring the characters Willie and Joe � two American �dog faces�. They were drawn by cartoonist Bill Mauldin while he served in the US Army from 1940 to 1945. The cartoons originally appeared in The 45�th Division News and Stars and Stripes.
