While visiting Holland, we visited a museum which had a display on WWII. It was most interesting to learn about the Dutch experience before the war and during their occupation - collaborators trying to help the Germans while other countrymen were harbouring fugitives!
Certainly, there was no love lost between the two camps - I recall Canadian veterans recounting tales of how they had to protect German prisoners of war from the Dutch citizens (who were prone to lobbing hand grenades into POW compounds).
Oh, and as to the original "thread" - keep in mind the word "Quisling" (albeit not Dutch).
