I couldn't see the flag guy from where I was but here's what offends me: the constant and ever increasing effort in this country to attribute heroism where it doesn't belong. To quote the Rabbi who gave a few words on Wednesday "...the equally brave war wives..." Equally brave war wives? What the hell does that mean? What message is he sending to youngsters? Staying at home required just as much courage as leaving everything behind to face the horrors nightmarish hell of the trenches? I'm all for equality but let's not lose sight of the real heros of the wars. Rememberence day is for rembering those who gave up everyhting including their arms, legs, eyes and even their young lives when their country, our country called.
