Good morning, Gents,
I 've recieved some information regarding the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal. It is in part as follows; 1) The official announcement of the medal will be on the 30th of June 1999. 2) NDHQ/Honours and Awards will be setting up a web site which will go on line on that date, which will provide all the information to potential appliccants, and will have an "on-line" application form. 3) If you are one of the 500 former members who have already applied you will be recieving an application in the mail shortly. You are reminded not to forward this application until the 30th of June 1999. This information is more for retired or released former members of the CF as opposed to serving members. All serving members' units will look after them. How ever in the case of reserve members it would'nt hurt for you to remind your units that you are intitled to this award. ( I've had some personal experience with a matter like this with my own former unit, I won't bore you with any details, other than after serving 20 years regular army and 5 years reserve army it has been my personal experience that the reserves have dropped the ball numerous times on the adm side of the house.)
